Abstract

This descriptive study aimed at clarifying the sayings of scholars and to provide evidence from the Qur’an and Sunnah about the place where the worshiper looks during prayer. The research consists of an introduction and three topics, and under each topic there are three sections, including the sayings of scholars on the issue, as well as evidence on this issue, then the judgment and the statement of the most correct sayings on the issue, and then the results of the research. As for the first topic, it deals with the position of the position in which the worshiper looks in prayer while the second topic deals with: the position of the place where the worshiper looks at while he is in the Tashahhud. The third topic deals with: the place where the worshiper looks towards the Sacred Mosque. Among the findings of the researcher is that the place where the worshiper looks in prayer is the qiblah because of the authenticity of the hadiths that confirm and support that. The hadiths stating that the worshiper should look at the place of prostration and the finger while he is in the Tashahhud are not authentic hadiths. There was no authentic hadith instructing the worshiper to look towards the Kaaba.

Key words: The worshiper - the prayer - the place where the worshiper looks - the prostration - the Kaaba - the qiblah
