Abstract

The study aims at finding out the effects of teaching Solid Geometry, using CABRI 3D program, on the geometric thinking and spatial perception of the second secondary grade students of the Capital Sana'a Secretariat. To achieve that, a teacher's guide for teaching Solid Geometry has been developed using the abovementioned program that the unit of measuring Solid Geometry has also been formulated through the implementation of the program. The sample of the study consisted of ( 89) subjects (Second Secondary grade students), selected randomly and divided into two: (44) of them represented the experimental group while (45) represented the comparable group. The subjects of the experimental group were taught the course of Solid Geometry using CABRI 3D program while the subjects of the comparable group were taught the same lessons taught to their classmates in the experimental group but without using the program. At the end of the experiment, the levels of the two groups were measured by Geometric Thinking Scale after its reliability and validity have been checked. A ready-made scale, has been also used for measuring the spatial perception of the subjects, after its suitability for the Yemeni environment has been checked as well as its measuring properties. Data was statistically computed using the software SPSS that the researchers used the One-way Anova for presenting the variance degree as well as t-test. The results have shown that teaching Solid Geometry through CABRI 3D program developed the students' Geometric thinking and their spatial perception.
