The objective of this study is to know the thermos-physical properties of the building materials used in the historic city of Shibam, as well as the change in these properties of these materials under different climatic conditions.


This study emphasized on the average density of building materials, thermal capacity, temperature conductivity (a) under two cases: dry and wet.


This study shows that due to the excellent thermos-physical properties of clay, evaporative air conditioning systems should be used only to provide comfort facilities in mud buildings in some months of the year and not for all months of the year.


There was no significant decrease in the strength of the clay between dry and humid conditions.
