Abstract

One of the most important factors that affect the agricultural development and its continuity is the water sources. This study aims at describing and introducing the study site (coastal area of Hadhramout) and the agricultural activities in this area through drawing a comparison between the space and crop production in two periods from 2000 to 2010 so as to show the changes that happened within these periods. The study describes the current state of the water sources available from rains, floods and underground waters upon which the agricultural activities are based. Through the study of these sources, the researcher will show the problems that affect negatively the sustainable agricultural development in the study site. The researcher will recommends having a geographical economic vision to overcome all these problems and to develop the available water sources to achieve a sustainable agricultural development in the study site.
