Abstract

     Summary, The field’s study aimed to identify the reality of organizational development practices in the second stage of basic education school, according to the modern educational trends that have been introduced to it. Then, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of organizational development   of the second stage of basic education school in the reality of the workforce, and the cultural and cognitive change of individuals. Moreover, the reality of work groups and the prevailing organizational climate between them, and the reality of the school as an organization of teaching and learning. The study adopted the descriptive and analytical approach. The study consisted of 368 managers and directors represented in four governorates in the Sultanate. The study tool consisted of a questionnaire consisting of 52 paragraphs, which were divided into three parts. The first part measures the reality of the workforce and the cultural and cognitive change of individuals, and the second part measures the reality of work groups and the organizational climate prevailing among them, and the third part measures the reality of the school as an organization for teaching and learning, the change in communication and decision-making processes and the change in the organizational structure and performance evaluation. The results of the study showed that the arithmetic mean of the axes ranged between 3.55 - 3.37 and that the axis of the school work groups field got the first rank and the average was 3.55 and the school manpower axis was ranked second, where it was 3.38 and the school axis as a learning and education organization came in  3rd place with average rating 3.37. The current study recommended studying the proposed scenario shown by the study and making use of it in developing schools of second stage.
