Abstract

The current study aims to identify the differences between the level of practical manual skills for new students and pre-graduate students of the Science Teacher Program at the College of Education in Mukalla to assess the extent of these skills growth among students during their university studies. The sample of the study consisted of (20) male and female students, (10) of whom were from the first level and (10) from the fourth level. The researcher prepared three note cards to estimate students' performance in the study sample of manual skills. After confirming the authenticity and consistency of these tools were applied to the study sample. The students' grades were then statistically processed. One of the most important results was that the average score of new students in manual skills as measured by the three observation cards is low. It equals (40.9) points, equivalent to (45.4%) of the maximum score (90). As for pre-graduate students, their average score was (69.8), equal to (77.5%) of the maximum score (90), which is less than the required proficiency rate set at (90%). In light of these findings, the researcher made a number of recommendations and suggestions.
