Abstract

The study aimed to identify the extent to which faculty members at the university possess effective university teaching skills (Planning, implementation, communication, communication and evaluation), in light of the variables (gender, specialization, scientific department, degree and years of experience), the study sample consisted of all the faculty members whom work in the College of Education. They were (61) members, and the fourth level students, who were (196) male and female students, who were deliberately selected. A tool was developed to achieve the objectives of the study and to ensure its validity and consistency. The study found that the extent of university teaching skills possessed by Seiyun faculty members from their point of view is large, and from the point of view of their students is average. There are statistically significant differences at the level of significance (0.05) in the areas of planning and implementation, and in the total score of the items of the questionnaire in favor of English language students due to the variable of specialization from the students' point of view. There are no differences attributed to the variables of gender, scientific department, academic degree and years of experience from the faculty members' point of view. In light of the results of the study, it recommended to achieve number of training and qualification courses to develop the capabilities and skills of faculty members and their assistants in the areas of skills, planning and implementation. It also recommended to do studies on the impact of faculty members ’possession of effective university teaching skills on students’ academic achievement.
