الملخص
The study of the architectural characteristics of the architecture of the old mosques in the city of Al- Mukalla is considered an important topic that must be addressed to extract the architectural values and principles in those buildings and enter them in a modern architectural style that expresses the architectural identity of the city.
To study this topic, this study was divided into an introduction, an analytical study, results and recommendations.
The introduction includes a presentation of the importance of studying the architectural characteristics of mosque architecture in the city of Al- Mukalla, then the descriptive applied study.
It includes a historical overview of the city of Al-Mukalla, the birth and development of the city through various eras.
It also includes an analytical and descriptive study of the architectural elements of a number of the city's mosques under study, In this study, a detailed and analytical explanation was made for each mosque separately from all sides, the horizontal projection, the facades, entrances, beams, columns, windows, openings, the qibla wall (mihrab), minarets, roofs and decorations.
These mosques were presented in the research Arranged in chronological order from old to modern, and which still retain their architectural characteristics until now, based on the date of creation.
The study concluded with a presentation of the most important results of the mosques of the ancient city of Al- Mukalla.
