Abstract

The internet has become the most significant way of exchange data because of its ubiquitous connection. In addition, internet supports application and business works. Therefore, the services of internet increases continually. On the other hand, internet must be more secure and fast. Therefore, the bandwidth and flexibility must be supported to guarantee the connection. Whatever the customers or the users need security. It is the most issue that the users concern about because the integrity and confidentiality of data is so important.  At the same time, the cost of subscribing and operational is factor influence in using the internet.

Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network is the best solution. It is with high-level security, confidentiality, costless, flexibility and support the supports the future technologies in the mobile services. MPLS supports IP, IPv6, IPX, etc, and using label to forward the packets, named label switching (LS). MPLS is an improved method for forwarding packets through a network using information contained in labels attached to IP packets. The corporation that use the MPLS is YemenNet. In addition, it is the gateway of Yemen and provides the internet. Using of MPLS is to be compatible the development of the technique which makes it able of providing the new services.

Due to this studying, the MPLS in YemenNet is going to be studied to know the potency of MPLS in the network development.

  1. Problem Background

YemenNet  was created in 2001, specializes in the management of Internet services and data transmission in all over the country, and to provide the services provided by Internet Service Providers in the world (Internet broadband, messaging services MPLS, hosting services, wireless internet, etc.) in all parts of the Republic of Yemen.

  • Problem statement

Studying MPLS networks in YemenNet Sana'a and efficient of MPLS in developing customers services.

  • Research Objectives

The objectives of this study can be summarized as follow

  1. To identify the purpose MPLS technique very well.
  2. To study how the MPLS works professionally.
  3. To figure out the new technique serves of MPLS.

  • Research Questions

These research targets are to answer the following questions

  1. What is the MPLS network?
  2. What are the MPLS components in YemenNet?
  3. What is the MPLS network architecture?
  4. What are the effectiveness of MPLS in the services of YemenNet?

  • Concepts of MPLS
    • Label switching  router  (LSR)   and label edge routers (LERs)

Label  switching  router  (LSR)   is  a  fundamental  component  on  an  MPLS  network. All LSRs support MPLS. LSRs that are located in the edges of a MPLS network are called label edge routers (LERs). An LSR is a high-speed router device in the core of an MPLS network that participates in the establishment of LSPs using the appropriate label signaling protocol and high-speed switching of the data traffic based on the established paths.  Ingress LER, also called the ingress LSR, classifies packets to identify FEC that determines a label; inserts the label (32 bits). The LER plays a very important role in the assignment and removal of labels, LER converts IP packets into MPLS packets as traffic enters an MPLS network, and converts MPLS packets into IP packets as traffic exits an MPLS network

  • Structure of an LSR
  • Control plane: Implements label distribution [2] and routing, establishes the LFIB, and builds and tears LSPs.
  • Forwarding plane: Forwards packets according to the LFIB.
